Meet the Parents II: Meet the Parkers!

So of course I met Parker’s parents. I was not going to. I had no intentions of meeting them and Parker was fine with this. He knows how harsh his parents can be. But I had to know, for myself, what this family was like.

His dad is handsome, an elected official (that’s all I’m allowed to say) and his mom is also very pretty… regally so. She’s tall, fair skinned, beautiful hair. And his sister looks like his mom.

When they arrived, I was in my room. Parker greeted them, told them they could sit down. I came out of our bedroom (the master suite is on the main floor) and said hello (my voice deeper, my walk swaggered a bit). All smiled.

I walked out the front door and I did not come home until Parker texted to say everyone was gone.

I'd say the first meet-and-greet went well and civilized.

You had nothing to be worried about brother. It seemed like everything went extremely well...

LOL @ a deeper voice.....I know that situation had to be extra weird but at least they know you actually exist now.....baby steps.

lol, we've never talked or met, but, based on your writing, something tells me your deeper voice and swagger were the most precious things ever! I'm glad that the visit went well, and that you and Parker were able to find a nice common ground on what can be a touchy subject, especially when one partner is more out to their parents than the other. Congratulations, and well played :)

Uh Huh...isn't it initially your place?

I mean he is living with you, right?

I know all about the hidden Dl thing, but for some reasonI'm made that you had to leave and wait to comeback to your own place. He moved in with you, not you moving in with him, that's all I have to say....for right now!

Did he say anything to him in regards to you?...Did you ask or anything, about what they thought?

That is a touchy situation. I know you did what was best for you and that's all that matters. Once you and Parker solidfy things more in your relationship you may sit with the family a little longer. That'll be interesting.

Whew... I am so glad its over... they are in town until Thursday, but with Parker's schedule, we should not meet again...

Dusty, it was civilized...

G... I am still waiting to read about your new boo... You know I called B for the scope...

Darius, I am a punk. I should have put on my apron and cooked them all some chicken... or lemon cupcakes for that matter.

turn me up.. They know I exist. And I am crawling before I walk...

DL, you better read tha Rhodes family!!!

D, you already know that I will keep you updated on the next meeting... which I hope will be much much much later down the road.

I'm sorry, is that a book?

I'm going to need a tad bit more info, on that son.

4gotten meeting the parents can be tricky, but he really didn't do that. It sounds like he did a drive by greeting and skitted out of dodge, after hiding in his room.

It sounds like I have more interaction with the cross eyed girl at KFC's down the street, than he did with these people.

I mean would it really have been that obvious that you two were more than just roommates, if you just chilled, sipped on some liptons and threw back a little oreos, or hell even a little entenmann's coffee cake, with them and let them know how great their son's new roommate is?

That's all I'm saying.

Yo C, I have to agree with YB&DL here ma dude. That was a real pussy move. I mean I know it can be hard to meet a mates parents but it is your crib. You could've had casual conversation if not only for 4.5 minutes. You're recount makes it sound like you Harlem shaked past them as if your skin blended perfectly with the paint on the wall unbeknow to the onlookers.

I guess it's just me but I never have a problem interacting with seasoned breeders. You should be confident enough in yourself to interact with anyone yo, ESPECIALLY since you had them on your turf. Hellz yea I would've offered them some tea and put my best foot forward. But eh, you did what you felt was best for you so I won't knock you kid. :-)

LMAO@ with deeper voice and swagger. So how high is your voice and how do you walk now...? Nevermind.

awwww... stop drilling the point it's "his place". They both have equal say to it (or am I being too optimistic here?!) :) Ahhh... the joys of living together and making compromises. *cough*sometimesitsuckssobad!*cough* Just my 2 cents. :)

Meeting the family can be one of two things: Nice or nasty and sometimes a tad bit of both, it appears that parker's family has class so I am certain that they were polite, cordial and giving good grace.

I am proud of you putting your voice in a deep register to let their first impression be that you are manly man. It does throw them off because they have a tendacy to think that men in the life are soft spoken and neat, I hope you had your thug gear on and sports periodicals spread all over the house not to mention the piles of dirty laundry near the door, they would immediately think STR8.

Pleased that you have met the family, you can get a better understanding of Parker after meeting the family. If they like you you'll make the holiday card list and holiday dinners.

Ouch...

DL, tt was a drive by, but again, his parents have no idea he's gay. Secondly, there is a pretty huge diffference in our ages... He's 22 and I am 28... um... not sure how that would look...

And blaq, my voice is not high and my walk is not swishy, but a little touching up never hurt...

Chet, LOL... Now, I did not do the thug gear... They are used to Parker's prep style and my style is the same... But if that is what it takes, I would have done it...

well, what did they say about you?!

maybe i missed something but because you didnt want to meet them you left your house?? why have them in your house?

fuzzy said...

So, do they know of your position in the house? or are you the roommate?

BronzeBuckaroo said...

It is a start. Take small steps until you are fully integrated into Parker's family. They should come to know what a beautiful human being you are and how lucky Parker is having you in his life.

I don't know the whole story of course. But, I do feel you will be welcomed into your man's family--the dream of every brother dating another brother. Sometimes, things just take time to happen.

BTW, you have no idea how will fight anyone who looks cross eyed at you and Parker. I am protective of you two!

This is my first vist to your blgo, but after reading this, I had to chuckle to myself: my voice deeper, my walk swaggered a bit, said hello and walked out of the front door. That's funny to me.

So we all know that i have this tendency to fall of the face of the blog world but then i dust myself off and try again. LOL im back!!!

Im proud of ya dude! I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in. I think being home when they arrived was classic and a bit politically correct. i think it kinda sends the message like 'yeah your son is living with another man, and yup im that man...now marinate on that for a minute Mr Elected Official' I think its wonderful. Im sure the Huxtables probably have some sort of idea and are trying to figure out if they should trust you with making the dressing this year for Thanksgiving dinner. Regardless of whose name is on the deed, if the 2 of you concluded it was best that you leave the house while they were there then ya done good son lol. Again im happy for you.

My inspirtaion!! 2 Attractive Black men maintaining a relationship in this sea of good looking men, where the idea is often that the grass is greener on the other side, is to be saluted.

Love ya bruh!
